Day 9 - First Weekend at Isolation Facility
Today is Day 9 since my diagnosis two Fridays ago, and Day 7 since entering this isolation facility last Sunday.
Today is Saturday 18 September 2021.
This is the first weekend I encountered since being sent to this isolation facility (or CCF, "Community Care Facility".)
This morning my temperature was 36.3 deg C. Lowest reading ever! (actually my first reading was 35.5 deg C but I think that was an error, too low! So I retook my temp.) I feel no fever at all.
My sore throat is 99% gone now.
I even gave some of my sore throat pills to my roommate because I am sure I won't be needing them anymore.
My sense of smell & taste remains 90% non-functional. I am able to smell for 0.5 seconds if I take a strong sniff at something with a strong smell e.g. meat, but not more than that.
My cough has improved a little bit since yesterday. But I am not going to bother reporting it or asking for medication for it, since it is not very severe.
So what's the biggest news today?
My roommate says he will be discharged tomorrow.
Also we had some discussion about herbal medicine.
He said his son once had a very bad cough, lasting 2 months. Western doctors could not help, and after sending him to a specialist even and examining him, they found no problems. So he went to buy some herbs (called "Cong Chao" - Cong is written as 3 worms) from some shop costing about $800. (expensive!) and his son ate them and recovered after 3 days.
He also said he ate the (leftover) herbs himself (since it was too expensive to waste) and he felt his breathing improved a lot, he never felt the breathing so smooth before.
I continued to do more laundry today. The previous set of clothes I put out in the balcony to dry last night has dried today. Thank goodness for good weather, and for the fact that we were allowed to go onto the balcony. (My friend said when her husband was staying at the same isolation facility with her son, they weren't allowed to go out to the balcony!).
For lunch today, I had kway teow and 2 meatballs with cheese inside. I didn't know the orange creamy sauce inside the meatball was cheese until my roommate told me it was cheese. YUUUCKKK!!! I hate cheese. But I already ate 1 of the meatballs, so it was too late. (I was unable to taste the cheese, that's why I ate it).
BTW: (perhaps a sign of my sense of smell improving a tiny bit) I was able to smell my own fecal matter in the toilet today, for a split second, like 0.3 seconds.
So when can I be discharged?
As I earlier mentioned (in my blog post on Day 3 - 12 September), my next covid swab test is scheduled on 23 Sep, so the earliest I can be out is probably 25 September. That is 7 days away.... and that is an overly optimistic prediction - I'm not even counting on that....
Some Bad News. Tonight I was using the broom and dustpan when my roommate said he saw a cockroach under his bed and asked to borrow the broomstick. I don't know if it's true, but we spent some time looking and didn't see anything. I used my iphone torch and looked under both our beds but saw nothing. I am going to be more careful with my plastic bags and ensure they are all properly sealed.
